PROCEDURE

1. Unless a project's drawings or specifications explicitly call out a different thickness, all drawer bottoms shall be manufactured at 3/8" thick.
2. Engineering/drafting is to confirm drawer bottom thickness on the drawing set before release to the shop; if a non-standard thickness is required, it must be explicitly noted on the drawing.
3. Shop staff building drawer boxes should treat 3/8" as the default and flag any drawing that omits or conflicts with this spec to Engineering before proceeding.
4. Purchasing should plan drawer bottom material stock around the 3/8" default, adjusting only for jobs with a documented exception.

EXPECTATION

Drawer boxes are built to a consistent 3/8" bottom thickness on every job unless a documented exception exists on the drawings, eliminating rework or fit issues from inconsistent drawer bottom stock.
